Ouroboros,

I wasn't offended or anything. No problem. Sometimes these side discussions are very productive.

kroeran,

I was the one that recommended standard headphones over earbuds but I see that I wasn't very clear. I meant instead of earbuds. Oh well, glad it resulted in something productive for you. I have actually used earbuds the last few times and they worked great but it was while I was able to enjoy relative peace and quiet on the outside.

I was using an mp3 player that did require mp3 format but it has recently took a dive. I'm now using my phone but haven't tried WAVs on it. It might work.

Thanks,
Ramon

can someone help me with pre and intra factors (I have not gotten out yet, but I have been very lazy about it)

this is what I have read over the years (which are bogus, which are not, what am I missing)

Prep/conditions:
- avoid meat, alchohol, caffeine, nicotine consumption, especially within a few hours of test
- fast
- try for absolute silence and very low visible light (but not total darkness)
- ensure you are not disturbed
- begin following 30 minutes of low activity after waking from sleep, 3 am to dawn

During:
- use mantra that does not have literal meaning. Would a 100 to 1 countdown cycle work?
- employ the Gateway tools (creed, protective energy sheeth, worry lockbox)

Will be living alone in August so Im goin to do my best to jump head first into the rabbit hole while theres no distractions, giving up coffee was tough. The whole lock box concept I think is easyier if you dont store them but write the down on a piece of paper them shred them, not literally of course. If anyone wants to experiment meeting in NPMR and get your own 'a ha' moment, we can write down times here and intend to go to a place and see if it can be done.

Lena,

I finally had the time to check out my program. The main screen looks different than the one on yours but I do have the exact same option menu for the encoding. Mine is set on a default of Constant Bitrate of 128 kbps and the sound seemed fine.

As a sidenote, I looked on the page Gerik provided and that gentleman suggests a constant bitrate of 256 kbps but then goes on to say that if your player will work with VBR that either would be fine. You can also change your maximum bitrate on the VBR to 256.

I don't think you'll have any problems either way. Hope this was helpful.

Ramon

Thank you Ramon.

Lena

This site just came to my attention. I didn't down load anything yet so I am not sure what you might actually find there, but the discription sounds very interesting and appropriate to this thread.

Then there's this latest craze "I-dosing" kids getting high on Binaural beats, digital abuse? Evolution explores all avenues and we humans will always seize the opportunity to abuse anything we can get our hands on. Seems the media has found a new way to cause fear, I'm not sure what to think about this.

The Fear Factory at work, and the greed of "the drug" trade hard at work. The videos are ridiculous enough to get a bunch of kids to try it so perhaps that is a good thing since as far as I know there is NO harm in it.

I have to admit though when I heard the newscaster I listen to every night say, "Binural Beats" it made me smile.

I was having problems with Gnaural on my mac, and ended up trying Audacity. Audacity is pretty straight forward in terms of a basic sound track editor and works smoothly on my G5 mac.

One thing that I really like about it is that it is easy to record a voice track (as well as adding other tracks.. ocean waves, music, etc). This way I can state my own intention etc. at the beginning. Also has white, pink, and brown noise if desired and will export FLAC, mp3, and various other formats.

Here is a very brief tutorial on setting up binaural beats with this program:
http://www.bukisa.com/articles/30713_ho ... ts-at-home
I'm sure there are other tutorials as well floating around.

Anyway, worth checking out. Oh, it's free too :)

Here are some binaural beat audio files that I made in case anybody else wants to try them also. Please save them to your computer if possible.

http://snodart.com/snodpublic/BinauralBeats/

The name of the file represents the tone used and the difference in hertz.

Example:

100_3_8.mp3 is a 100 hertz tone in one ear and a 103.8 hertz tone in the other ear. The result of course is a 3.8 hertz binaural beat.

440_4_2.mp3 is a 440 hertz tone in one ear and a 444.2 hertz tone in the other ear, resulting in a 4.2 hertz binaural beat.

Each file contains a mix of the binaural beat tone, the sound of ocean waves, and a small amount of white noise. All audio fades in very slowly (and out), so you will need to go to the middle of the track to set an appropriate volume level.

At about 2 minutes into each track there is a single bass tone. I use this as a reminder to begin quieting my thoughts and to let go of any intelectual chatter.

At around 35 minutes into each track the binaural beat tones fade. At around 36 minutes, there are three bass tones followed by a simple song. These tones are to help bring me back to full waking consciousness. The short song is to give me a few moments to reorient myself.

Anyway, use them as you wish. I don't have enough spare time to custom mix anything new, but I can easily export different frequencies and beat ranges within this same audio mix and layout.

Quick question about "brewing your own" BBs...

has anyone been testing with "frequencies with an alleged propriety" as a base. For instance, rather than using a "round" 100hz, using 160Hz instead, which is reportedly used to relieve headaches, or, 183hz which is believed to have growth, success and spirituality implications somehow?

Any take on those?

Nick,

Could you supply references?
