A number of people have equated altruism with growth. But in mainstream science, altruism is explained as existing because it helps the survival of the species.

What about people with mental disabilities? Which IUOCs are incarnating there?

Ted, you wrote, "After all, a certain amount of extra trouble by the 'system' is required to set up for any two humans to be together in a life".
Does the system set it up so that we have a "soulmate"?

First off what does "mainstream science" have to do with anything bigger than it?

My adult son Arthur has autism, his IUOC doesn't. His twin sister and I get a lot of growth and he does too from our situation.

We incarnate in groups I say, but no not just one soul mate. Actually we are all soul mates. :)
Love
Bette

In my understanding it can happens, Tom and his wife Pamela is an example. I am saying that, because Tom has mentioned it in his book. Majority has no soulmate, but do their best to live with their partners, children, friends and etc. I believe you have to be a representation of a mature soul, IOUC, to be able to make a plan before incarnating here. Experience is a valuable thing, and for IOUC to gain some wisdom takes many runs with no plan at all. Come back to NPMR, shake off PMR dream, get help to feel stronger, analyze with some help your past life experience and you are good to go to jump into a new adventure. Kindergarten kids don't need a special preplanning done, they have to acquire as much experience as possible at first. A puppy has to learn how to walk on a leash, don't pee in a crate or on carpet, listen to commands and obey. This is a necessary experience for a dog before any more serious steps. The same could be said about us, kindergarten kids, too. ;))

Community,

I am not ignoring your questions about disabilities and soulmates. Lena and Bette have already answered them to the point where I have nothing further and useful to add.

I think soul mate has a different connotation in MBT terms. Most people think of a soul mate as someone who blends seamlessly into their life and who meets all their needs. As Tom has explained his some what predestination with Pamela - she was the person who was going to be most helpful to him to lower his entropy and be supportive of his NPMR exploration. He said recently at a seminar that Pamela busts his ego and challenges him like no one else. This is not what most people think of when they talk about soul mates.

the principle purpose of pairing, for at least part of our lives, is to be subject to profitable and informed commentary on various aspects of our MO, the most useful of which is painful to hear.
