In this conversation Foad talks with Tom about his suicidal tendencies and the problems he has in the relationship with his girlfriend. It is a rather personal conversation but maybe it is useful to other people so Foad and Tom decided to share it. They start out talking about a recent posting by Tom's wife regarding "5 things to quit right now" and that Foad was in a very bad place a few days ago seriously considering suicide but that he is also aware that it is not a real solution for the issues he is facing. Around 11:40 Foad shares the nature of the rather unique relationship he has with his girlfriend and the role his Muslim background plays regarding his relationship problems. Tom thinks that one of the underlying issues is a lack of self-worth and that his childhood and the early death of Foad's mother might play a role as well.

I watched a little over 4 minutes of this, before this MBT forum post appeared, and it was so painful to me that I had to break from it.

Does anyone know, since this was private and is now public, if that means Foad has put his suicidal tendencies further away from himself. in the sense of a sort of healing, or not ?

Yes, it gets much lighter by the end. And Foad is smiling.

As long as you can meet your needs with dignity what is there to be suicidal about? I don't get it. What is so bad about Foad's life? I would feel perfectly fine if I could meet the aforementioned condition.

It's a lot more complicated than that. In some cases brain chemistry has something to do with it.
