I think from the comments that many of you missed something in Tom's trilogy. He explained that the original version was nothing more than an extensive paper which he loaned to interested parties to read. These were not high school students but colleagues and friends who would have been college and post graduate level, well educated people that Tom knew. They were the driving force behind the repeated rewriting with the addition of new explanatory material as they requested more explanation in order to understand the material. I'm sure that I would not have found it so clear if I had not had a lifetime of exploring the literature on the paranormal from many directions and a certain amount of my own experience beforehand. I might not have understood it in a full union of all the concepts, but the basic information was already there. Most people do not have this, no matter what their interest may have developed to. They have not spent a lifetime in the search. People who spend a lifetime in trying to understand the metaphysics of our reality are few and far between. The people Tom asked to review his work all through the process were the driving force behind Tom coming out with a trilogy of near 900 pages. He specifically described this process.

To a certain extent there is some bragging going on as to how trivial it is to understand this material, if you are smart enough. If the shoe fits, wear it.

Ted

When I was first reading MBT I remember thinking that Tom was repeating himself on many occasions. It felt somewhat slow in some places also. I was anxious to get to the meat of it. But like most here, I stuck it out (too much of it rang true for me not to). After having spent much time with MBT and being partway through a second read, I have a better understanding as to why the books are written as they are. It is fully necessary I think. We want quick fixes, hurried finishes, and the point before the lesson. That is just the way many of us are (at least in western culture). I just don't think that Big Truth comes in those types of packages. It is a long high road (to use Tom's words).

There is a very condensed version of the model springing into existence as we type: http://wiki.my-big-toe.com/index.php/In ... _MBT_Model

Ted has been working on this over the past weeks. It's not a finished product, but definitely worth a bookmark IMO.
