That sounds like an incredible project; very ambitious. Is there anywhere you want to go with this in the future?
And as regards dreaming, I have, in the past, been able to fall asleep and start dreaming almost immediately during 15-30 minute nap periods. Either that implies I was somehow able to get into a REM state quickly, or REM state isn't needed for dreaming?

There are many variables that influence when the onset of the REM state occurs. With practice, it can be entered into directly from waking.
