We would definitely love to have you! September's Meetup is not yet scheduled, but if you plan to be in the area please let us know and we will try to schedule it to accommodate your travel plans.

August's Meetup was more intimate than they have been, and also ran a little longer than usual. We spent the last few minutes in silence, sending healing energy to Tom's grandson, who has a herniated diaphragm as you may have seen listed in the SWAT Team thread.

I always look forward to our monthly meetups and I am never disappointed. It would be great if we could incorporate some new members! Or even a cameo appearance by some of you once in a while, just to keep things interesting :)

We're meeting again on Tuesday, November 29th. Our last meetup had the highest number of participants ever (7) including a special guest appearance by Lena from the boards. They continue every month and I continue to enjoy them.

that is fantastic and I would hug you if I could!

if you want to supercharge your progress and don't mind me sticking my nose in your business, consider

- putting an ad in your local spiritual magazine, the one that advertises crystals and new age stuff that every area has
- google adwords with a geographic filter is an easy and cheap way to find like-thinkers
- do a small cheap run of business cards that promote your meeting and put them on the windshields of cars parked outside meetings of spiritualists and ECKANKAR, those weekend thingys where mediums and past life regression types peddle their wares

please share in this thread what you do at the meetings, what works and what doesnt work, as encouragement and guidance to as yet unactualized group #2.

To ensure that you stay grounded in TOE principles, I would suggest that someone volunteer to read a few paragraphs of the trilogy and suggest an analysis or explain why the text was important to themselves, or something book-centered.

Also, maybe listen to an exerpted video of one of Tom's presentations and discuss, as well as some meditation (mantric as well as non-matric and binaural). You could as well experiment with PSI proof such as remote viewing or ESP testing, or more dramatic stuff if you have an OBEr.

To include Tom and Ted in the process, you may wish to consider writing a meeting agenda and sharing it in advance with Ted and Tom for input/comment.

Perhaps they just want to 'meet' and get to know one another, not to be led. For instance, the Occupy movement seems to be going world wide from nothing more than being like minded people aware of the same general situation. Tom is not into control as far as I can tell. I would have no idea what to do with a report on a 'meeting'. Especially if there were 2 or 3 or . . .

Leadership is acting in the interest of the group, not out of interest of the leader, and this includes the leader serving the individual desires of each member of the group, and it is a sacred, beautiful thing, when done well, and is essential to effectiveness, which animates intent, which is of specific importance regarding spreading TOEish thinking

In this, and possibly this alone, intent is not enough

Part of effectiveness is creating opportunities for community elders and authorities to input to their project, out of respect, to acknowledge being part of a larger initiative, but as well to maximize the chance of success.

Or maybe I am very confused regarding the intent of AUM in this matter

If memory serves, Tom very explicitly said that having local groups was entirely a matter of free will. He did not ask for it nor speak against it. Whatever form you wish to create a group based upon is up to you. If you wish to create a group in South Florida when you are there during the year, you are therefore perfectly welcome to do so. And you can create as authoritarian a form of group interaction as you find members willing to put up with. Elected or self appointed leader, officers, minutes of the meetings, the whole nine yards if you can find others interested in that approach. You can start the Church of My Big TOE if you really want to. However Tom has explicitly said that he hopes not but figures that after he is gone, that someone eventually will.

It is perfectly clear to me that based upon our interactions, Tom is entirely non authoritarian. His goal is to give as many PMR participating IUOCs as possible some degree of knowledge of the nature of our reality within which we find ourselves. Largely this is in the direction of science as having his model to eventually grow into understanding. I try to serve him in that goal. Mostly I try to follow his lead and his hints when he will give them. I do that as I am capable of it. He has never said he was really displeased about anything. What you choose to do is up to you.

I hope it was clear I was talking about Linda's leadership, and only to respond to the suggestion that leading was somehow a negative thing or possible confusion between leading and control

I have no control over Lynda, and Lynda has no control over her group, so I am not even sure why we are having this discussion, but it was Bette that brought up possibly forming a group in my area and you that brought concerns about leading

I was just passing on my obsessive thinking on local groups and things that could possibly be done, with as much humility and gentleness that I could muster.
