My new work is involving Artifical Intelligence. An interesting fact is how AI is very closely related to how we as humans communicate as we pass between us tokens or packets of information that are then processed and interpreted intellectually. The differential is that we are also emotionally driven creatures so that much of the logic is skewed by our emotions. Is the reason why we call computer intelligence "Artifical" because the computer lacks the emotion? Would a human be more efficient in information processing if less emotion were involved? By programming/teaching computers the component of emotional dependency, would this make the human/machine interface more compatible?

Just a few stray thoughts in the early morning hours..

LauraMarie,

The MBT model I referred you to is essentially a description of how consciousness developed and what Tom discovered/considers necessary as a precondition for consciousness to develop. For your information, you might look at the web site of a board member who is working on his doctoral research, Martin Peniak. http://www.martinpeniak.com/ He is working on a humanoid robot project, the robot built by others and also a major project with a computer architecture involving using multiple graphics processing modules from NVIDIA if I remember correctly (essentially a desktop super computer) to host the AI for the robot as I understand. You should find this of interest. Tom has recently been in contact with someone starting an AI project but I do not know how to refer you to that project as I do not know them other than by their e-mail address which I cannot publish here.

I have also seen on the Internet a report on a computer program that includes the ability to read facial expressions and emotions to allow better communication with users. I do not have that specific link but a search for 'program that reads facial expressions and emotions' brought up many links related to that kind of work going on.

Ted

Very interesting, Those negative emotions generated by mostly fear is the problem, It causes disorder, High entropy, Once we move away from that and balance those with positive emotions, We start to feel better, This can be incredibly difficult an on going process that seems to never end, But that feedback we get (love state) that lets us know this is right, Is in my view A path to lower entropy. As far as AI who knows what platforms we will develop, They could develop emotions, How they would lower entropy would probably start out much different than the way we started. I have been saying for decades we are going to create life (platforms) and they will pray to us and we will answer there prayers. Most people really don't like that idea they are just not open to it. Anyway just some of my thoughts this morning to get me going. Fred searching for truth

Every contextual experience we have with a "thing" from birth into a life experience packet on is 'stored' as emotion basically, bottom line, attached to that "thing" with all the contexts it has for us. Perhaps emotion is HOW we can remember anything? It does get in the way of effective communication in people though, that seems clear enough. It seems like you have it though that emotional intelligence is what is different in AI. It seems like it would be easy enough to program in illogical emotional responses based on some specific but random connection between a "thing" and a programmed automatic response (knee jerk) in AI just like fetishes and fears are programmed in us, but why? :)

Bette

Another interesting view, Pattern matching to emotions, That seems to be a great way we remember, Remembering experiences (data) through mostly thought seems less reliable and easier to deny. As far as fear and fetishes in PMR that comes with the territory, Keep the fetishes (positive addictions) and chuck the fear. Fred searching for truth
