I have a general question about virtual reality that I was not sure where to post.
My question is about the concept of virtual reality and the difference between seeing and experiencing "physically".
A lot of the material I have seen on this topic places emphasis on the concept of subjective observation and the intrepetation of that reality. But how does the aspect of experience the solidity or material (physical) aspect of the experience get conveyed?
After all, photons are light particles - so how does one experience the entire (seeing, touching, tasting, feeling, etc) reality at the moment ?

gg,

Compare it to what happens based upon our understanding of PMR. Your sense organs-all virtual- eyes, ears, etc. and your sensory neurons that sense touch, pressure, temperature, etc. all send signals to your brain, representing the virtual location of your mind. All that happens to create a virtual reality is that those same digital signals are sent from TBC via the VRRE to your real mind. There your mind interprets the incoming data according to the rules of PMR. That is how you feel that you have a body, see out of your eyes, hear with your ears, feel whatever, etc.

Hi gg,
Welcome to Tom's discussion forums.

gg66: so how does one experience the entire (seeing, touching, tasting, feeling, etc) reality at the moment ?

Bette: It, perception, is built up from experience from our birth so our own personal experiences with "life" dictate what we experience from the sensory data fed to our sensory modalities (sense organs). We are basically meat puppets (Tom says we are in 'meat suites') that perceive and react to the stimuli per learned, but often unconscious and bias based assumptions, behaviors. One's experience is personal although their sensory modalities are basically the same if that is the case, that there is no sensory disability.

Welcome again to Tom's site.
Love to you and yours,
Bette

thanks for the clarification but I do still have questions...perhaps I need to explore this personally.

Let's say you are having an experience in another reality (NPMR ?) - what happens, for example, if you were to slam into a "hard" object and "die" in that realm ? Would you experience the pain as if you were in this PMR ?

When you play a character on a video game do you feel what happens to it? This probably isn't a good answer, but it came out.
Love
Bette

Hi gg66,

From personal experience in a different reality , you feel the love and the embrace when you give someone a big hug, you feel the grass under your feet, the sun shining down on you, you feel the water when your swimming, you feel it when an old lady backs up into you mint firetruck and spins it 360 degrees and it ends up in a ditch :), you feel it when your guides are jacking around with you and make you jump 3 feet off your stool by showing you something completely different than what you were expecting or interpreted.

I would say yes you are going to feel the pain and the pleasure in whatever reality you visit but your not going to die. If you are in your primary PMR you'll just have to hit the reset button and start over :) if your just visiting in another PMR you wake up and its all good.

GG,

Here is a post I just made a few posts down this other thread. Try it on for size as a start to an answer:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4021

Beyond this as Thynes was saying, but in other words, these are virtual experiences. You are and remain yourself as an IUOC existing and experiencing over the RWW. You do not die if you are visiting NPMR by switching your input data stream temporarily to the NPMR data stream. Also note, that this is a data stream you pick relative to NPMR, not the data stream being experienced by your NPMR virtual self which continues to experience its own data stream that constitutes its existence in NPMR. Even when you 'die' here in PMR, you have not died except as the virtual being experiencing this PMR experience packet has had its experience data stream terminated. Your consciousness just returns to your NPMR experience, switches experience data streams, which continues as before. If you are a relative beginner and need some kind of 'therapy' and special handling to ease the transition back, you will get it.

Does this answer your question?

Ted
