I knew two guys who knew Jimi Hendrix: Velvert Turner and Richard Lloyd. Turner was a guitar student of Hendrix's and Lloyd was best friends with Turner who passed on Hendrix's techniques to him. Turner told me that he was "blown away" by Hendrix's innovative guitar techniques. Both were very influenced in their subsequent guitar careers by Hendrix. Turner went on to issue an album with a Hendrix-like sound in the 70's and Lloyd became a much admired guitarist in the 70's and he continues to play and teach today. Two years ago and about 40 years after he met Hendrix, Lloyd issued a "cover" album of 10 Hendrix songs as a "payment of a debt" to him.

Here are two people who knew Jimi Hendrix personally, were inspired by him and went on to creative and productive musical careers. So did Hendrix make a contribution to the evolution of consciousness? I would say yes.
