I would like to believe that life is still going on out there in the forests of the world even though there might not be a perceived sentients approval.
That the MBT-model explains that differently and that you somehow do not like it and even may perceive it as a threat is saying nothing about "who" is right.
The perceived implications of the MBT-model feel wrong to you and you would like to reject them.
The MBT-model is consistent - but there is the (famous?) concept of "wiggle room" or uncertainty even in the concept of plants.
I would not hang it on the "plants are not sentient" issue.
Some say this way, some the other - and you have no data to verify or falsify eighter.
Leave it open until you have.
It is Tom's TOE - which can help you build yours.
