Will it rapidly change some paradigms?

It all sounds cool...at first. But isn't it just another way of taking our focus off of the real problem (inner space)? Or will applications be available for such implementations as well?

It seems like another way to play with the meat puppet except when used to reintroduce some missing sensory modality that the person would like to have, in my opinion from what little I know about it. It is cool.
