Hello, and Happy New Year.

The Spanish translated file, number 11 of the TMI 22 Seminar (see a few posts above) has been now changed (being already the new one in his place) because there was a phrase which had been reported as "Bright Shaft Potential" and translated accordingly, being the proper one "Bereitschaftpotential", a German expression that refers to the English expression "Readiness potential".

In my research in order to translate this "readiness potential" (in Spanish: Potencial pre-motor), I have found, thanks to an inestimable help, two very interesting adresses in which it is explained both the main issue and the experiment that led to his demonstration:

Look here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bereitschaftspotential
and here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Libet

Has MBT been translated into other languages? I speak Lithuanian and know some people who would find this book interesting. What kind of approval/process would be needed?

Azuolas,

As you can see, I moved your post to this thread where much has been done in this direction in a general way. Not the whole of MBT however. Here is a link to a recent post referring to some German translations of various items. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=6307&hilit=translating If you prefer, I can move your and subsequent posts into a new thread related to just this project within this forum. I moved you here to bring the above posts to your attention and for ease of your reading what you might need to see to understand the magnitude of the project and some of the problems.

I have never discussed this kind of translation with Tom and I do not know his plans. He will surely not be opposed to translations but would like to know that they are being done with care. Many of the concepts are subtle and there is special terminology. Could you perhaps post some of your ideas here? Then it can more easily be brought to Tom's attention. I await your further postings.

Ted

Ted, its an interesting idea that ive been thinking about. I understand that the translation would have to be done very tactfully. In certain states of consciousness I could see how it would be accomplished. It would need creativity and humor in Lithuanian as well. I am working on developing the personal efficacy required to do something like this properly. I will keep you posted if this becomes more concrete.
