OK, I haven't finished the trilogy yet and sometimes while reading my mind wanders a bit (maybe too far). This science stuff is really out of my league (I was a history teacher). I'm thinking of "A Christmas Carol" in terms of MBT. Would it be reasonable to say-

A. Scrooge was receiving a nudge from the LCS in the form of Marley and the other ghosts (metaphors which Scrooge would understand).

B. The "visits" and "journey" took him into NPMR.

C. The Ghost of Christmas Past showed him an actualized data stream of the past.

D. The Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come showed him a probable future database, which Scrooge then altered with his free
will.

E. The Psi Uncertainty Principle would preserve the perception of "normalcy" the surrounding world.

F. Scrooge's own entropy was lowered and in turn he spent the rest of his life lowering the entropy of those around him,
thereby effectively "evolving" the system.

This is my all time favorite Christmas story, and I thought it just brought in a lot of aspects of what I've been reading in MBT.

Jeanne,

I laughed when I read your theory. Here's why:

Ramon,

You thought the same thing!! At least you were thinking about it in December, rather than July. And I love the George C. Scott movie version too.

I almost didn't post because part of me thought it sounded too "off the wall", but on the other hand it really seemed like Dickens could have come up with the whole concept after reading MBT.

Too cool, really.

Jeanne,

I have been known to watch it in July. It seems kind of strange in retrospect, but when I was a child I watched that movie throughtout the year repeatedly. I also loved Disney's version, "Mickey's Christmas Carol." I don't know what prompted the fascination other than I have a persistent sense of having lived in England in previous experience packets. Anyways, after reading MBT, the connections just kind of jumped out at me. I wondered if Charles Dickens knew more about NPMR than most. Perhaps, it was "given" to him subconsciously. Interesting line of thinking to pursue.

It just made me laugh, in a good way, that you had arrived at nearly the same theory! Too cool indeed.

Ramon,

I grew up in the Detroit area back in the 60's and 70's. A local TV station showed the 1951 version every Thanksgiving. It was as much of a highlight to me as the parades and the turkey.

Most of my ancestry is from England. My grandparents were from Doncaster and coincidentally their last name was Thompson. They came here to the US very close to the time of the Titanic.
