That is beautiful Justin, I had missed that one or something. You already knew a long time ago.

Yhniwyata, this is what I have been thinking of for awhile, to make rock music, popular music for young people have lyrics that helped them understand Reality. Do you have any lyrics on reincarnation?

I'm a fan of swedish style metal.A favorite of mine, 'scar symmetry' has great lyrics related to many of the topics here.[One of their CDs is titled 'Holographic Universe' for instance.]

You can read some of their stuff here:

Their music may or may not appeal to your tastes...here is one that is a bit mainstream

"Many..."

Many shades of withered gray,
From this one place to thine,
Many ways and things to say,
But none of them are mine.

Many rocks and ocean tides,
From here to where you are,
Many clocks and widowed brides,
Lie frozen in the stars.

Many joys and sorrows do,
Bring peace to all in Being,
Many ploys remind us to,
Remember what we're seeing.

So many times and places,
And so many loves to know,
So many pretty rhymes and faces-
Join us as we go.

This came to me just now while exercising:

Curious,

I took a step back from my life.

Bemused,

I stepped back a little further.

Detached,

I stepped back further still,

Until...

Ecstatic,

I realized

The Truth

This one's about growing awareness...

When I was but a sprout

When I was but a sprout
growing up within the weeds
the light would trickle downwards
and whisper things to me

One day, she once told me,
I’d rise above the leaves
to form part of the canopy
Up high, up there – you’ll see!

Our time will last, she whispered
and blaze the whole day through
east to west, where earth and heaven carve
a line so true.

And so I came to know
within her milky light
the unseen world around us
into which I rise.

I'm still going through my sister's papers. I found this poem of hers today.

Beyond
the cycle
of galaxies
before
the forming
of stars
you
were
there
when all
was
beginning
and somehow
I know
who you
are

Wow, you guys are so amazing! Here are some contributions.

-Follow Your Own Star-
August 24, 2009
Pulled by our ego and emotions, we are often lead around by the little heart.
Can we evaluate the truth, and correctly judge life with this sort of shaky start?
Our attachments to physical things, we believe they are real, and will be lasting.
In reality, these are simply bodily perceptions that are felt, and will be passing.
If this is the way it must be, then what still, is this voice that speaks inside of me?
It whispers of some glimmer of light, a piece of truth waiting for an eye to see.
The knowing of that which is beyond time, and that which is beyond place,
an echo of unity and peace, a classification beyond humanity, gender, or race.
When you find this gentle reassuring notion, do not be troubled in any way.
The time to be still and listen has arrived, and there is nothing more for you to say.
Heart and mind open, you observe the sacred wisdom, the source of all the light.
What was it again that made you believe the best thing you could do was fight?
The answer arrives when you remember thinking, the ego was all that you are.
Finding again the correct frame of reference, you are free to follow your own star.

-Tree-
June 4, 2009
The tree of humanity is rooted in the unity of all that is.
We each share similar branches. Differences result from
our focus being too narrow to see the whole tree.

-Touch-
August 7, 2008
How precious is the touch of a loved one? To those familiar with this touch, it is as precious as a gift of gold. Better is that same touch to one whom has never known such a gift before. To the untouched it is like seeing light for the first time. To touch a person is to convey a message beyond words. It is the affirmation that you are loved, that you are accepted. The touch says what the lips cannot.

This is actually a song

I looked toward the sky
and I died into a dream
of a world that passed you by
for all the sins, you left, unredeemed

The one of old we knew
within the silver chain
that we walked with, till the new
red railway, bought the train

Ch

I count a thousand heroes
I count a thousand dreams
I count a thousand heartbreaks
so it goes, so it seems

Beggars and heroes
both dealt in the game
beginning and ending
everyway, the same

Ch

master mix the colours
and paint an autumn day
with lovers hand in hand
and rivers cold and grey

I see an empty canvas
I see the morning sky
put one beside the other
and no longer question why

Chorus
oh I,
combing all the fields
not knowing what is real
anymore

this would seem cooler if you imagine me with long hair and beard and 70s hippy poncho!

Happy birthday, Cole :)

266
The morning after completing his eight million word manuscript
About the essential unreality of all things,
He searches his room in apparently increasing desperation,
Wondering where on earth it can possibly have disappeared to.

170
The emperor is haring up a tunnel
Which links (or so he thinks) to his private apartments
The retreat of a young woman he is particularly fond of.
Another two or three years should see him there.

323
It seems probable that someone lives in this forest.
There are so many hints available
To the trained eye. Look over there, for instance.
Or over there. Or down there. Or through there. Or in here.

385
Meanwhile, in another part of the same scroll,
The woman who was lying on the floor, smiling,
Is walking up a hidden stairway, smiling
A subtler variation of the same smile.

286
Four of the Gods are hurrying down a hillside,
Towards the mansion where the great thinker dwells
Who recently proclaimed the triumph of monotheism.
Each is secretly trying to get there before the others.

303
After sitting there for an hour or so,
The poet rises, gathers up his belongings,
Gives a last glance back, and leaves the pavilion.
As soon as he leaves, another poet enters.

The Song "Ripple" Is about ... well.... a sort of communication/inspiration event.

The refrain:

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow

Refers to a sort of gust that blows consciousness gently sideways... it is lysergic sort of event where it seems space bends a little and yet nothing has changed.

Here's the whole song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVdTQ3OPtGY

And here are the lyrics:

Ripple
Lyrics By: Robert Hunter
Music By: Jerry Garcia

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music?
Would you hold it near, as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of man

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go, no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall, you fall alone
If you should stand, then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way, I would take you home

This is really a great thread guys.
please allow me to get into the poetic spirit with all of you

this is a poem that I wrote in 1973, when I was 12 yrs old
growing up in new york city

sunrise in the city
it isnt really very pretty
towering structures of steel and glass
poorly substitute trees and grass

in a world of poverty, hunger and thirst
who will launch their missiles first?
or will I wake at dawn to find
it was all just in my mind?

I have written many more since then but none really better

peace
patrick

And: http://soundcloud.com/colerandall/cole- ... o-goodbyes

--Verse 1--
You, you're captivated,
By the moon,
You think it's faded,
You sing its tune.

And the stars are begging for your soul's attention,
And I was aching for your touch,
No, it ain't much.

--Verse 2--
You, your eyes are hazy,
From the sun,
You think I'm crazy,
For what I've done.

But the stars are waiting for your soul's arrival,
And I'm a thousand lives away,
So, don't delay.

--Chorus--
Oooh Winding roads are- winding on,
Weathered stone, and rows of bones lie thereupon.
my love...
Oooh winding walk ways, lead us on,
And we find that we are all we depend upon.
my love...

Sooo take a day to, rest your eyes,
Wait to rise, No goodbyes.

--Verse 3--
You, you understated,
The way you feel,
Serenaded,
Sex appeal

And the boys are begging for your sole affection,
While I was aching for your touch,
No, it ain't much.

--Verse 4--
You, arise and find day,
No mistake,
A Roundabout way,
Give and take.

But you feel like you are way too overburdened,
And I'm a 1000 lives away,
Go, take your own way.
