Very cool film about NPMR case officers who manage human history with nudges

Focus on decision trees and key inflection points

I think not too different than Toms view of reality, definitely a TOE head film.

The Adjustment Bureau is a 2011 American film loosely based on the Philip K. Dick short story, "Adjustment Team".[2] A romantic science fiction thriller, the film was written and directed by George Nolfi and stars Matt Damon[3] and Emily Blunt.[4] The cast also includes Anthony Mackie, John Slattery, Jon Stewart, Michael Kelly, and Terence Stamp.[5][6] It contains a score by Thomas Newman, with two songs by Richard Ashcroft ("Future's Bright" for the opening sequence; "Are You Ready" for the closing credits).

Oh, I'll have to see it then. I had read/interpreted the ads for it to have it appear it was based on the manipulation of others free will for profit to other against their free will. That can be understood through the MBT model I suppose, as bad. Did you see the actual movie?

sure, saw it.

the basic premise is that the big guy upstairs occasionally suspends absolute free will in limited circumstances for specific purposes in order to bring the simulation into better balance.

I won't get too far into it in order to not spoil the story for you.

I believe this sort of tweeking is within the TOE model?

Actually it is not. 'Nudging' yes, suspension of free will, no.

yeah, I should not have used that language...in the movie it might be something along the lines of a split second tactical intervention like forcing a coffee spill on someone...so that they will miss a bus, and miss meeting a specific person

the "case officers" (aka angels, guides) can even pause the simulation and freeze the action in place, and then do maintenance

where it gets interesting is that the lead character walks in on one of these "pause" situations, and there is a bureaucratic process to figure out what to do with him.

part of the ruleset is that they are required to minimize intervention in the simulation, which presents challenges.

seeing this film makes me wonder if some screenwriters are mining MBTOE for ideas, or if AUM is intentionally revealing itself

Thank you Randy, I like it when movie start reflecting Reality as they are doing. I also realize they usually take some poetic whatever that is called to make it "interesting" i.e. saleable. I will see it sometime though because of the theme.

Yes...thanks for the recommendation Randy. I enjoy movies like this. And I love to read Phillip K. Dick. His books brush up against the paranormal, consciousness stuff, sci-fi....and run parallel to MyBToe in my estimation.

(But then again, I'm not even done with My Big TOE. Nor have I read everything by Dick. A running similarity for me at the moment.)

It looks like an interesting movie.

Mark

You may not have read any of Dick's writings but, you have probably seen at least one of the movies based on his writing:

Ten of his stories have been adapted into popular films since his death, including Blade Runner, Total Recall, A Scanner Darkly, Minority Report, Paycheck, Next, Screamers, and The Adjustment Bureau.

I have seen four out eight of these listed, and 3 out of 4 are on my all time fave list.

Thanks Randy. I will be looking out for this.

as we are talking film...apparently Joe vs the Volcano was written following an NDE

also there is "the thirteen Floor", much of which overlaps with Big reality.

And of course Being John Malcovich. A Scanner Darkly is probably a true story...

I think it's called Poetic License.

I've seen Minority Report but that's the only one. I thought Blade Runner was based on a Stephen King short story or novel but I've never seen it (actually now that I think of it, that may have been The Running Man, which I also have never seen).

I think I've seen pieces of A Scanner Darkly but I might be mixing that one up with Waking Life.

On a separate note, has anyone here ever heard of Robert Moss and his "Active Dreaming"? He is featured on Conscious Media Network this month along with Darryl Anka (who channels Bashar).

Love,
Lynda

It's funny to think about that some films might have been the result of the need for some new concept to be introduced in our "collective consciousness", this could be one.

Some good parallels to MBT and the inner workings of reality, but extremely PMR-centric in metaphors, and sometimes too much. But still, the bureaucratic feel, the concept of decision making and how it branch out, the prediction of these, and the hard balance between adjusting something and not doing so, because of the "ripples" it create, these ideas I liked (among others).

Could also spur some interesting questions from people unsure of how some of the films concepts align with MBT.

Maybe this is like Homer Simpson says, it's so funny because it is so true. :)

The remote viewer Courtney Brown PhD claimed in one of his books that a lot of the ideas in the Star Trek series were fed into the consciousnesses of the writers. Ideas like the Federation of Planets.
