So far it's just rain here in Massachusetts, we're totally fine, I will keep you posted :)

Thanks for asking Lena.

How's everyone else? NJ, NY?

Keith and Donna posted on facebook yesterday they were good. It looks like it calmed down and the damage has been less than expected which is always good. I always think it is Murphy's law which I am starting to see in a different way now, I started just this second seeing it differently. It's preparation I think. Preparing for emergency situations SEEMS to reduce their severity, a working hypothesis.

I saw a post from Edge here but didn't notice the time stamp because I'm rude I guess, jeez, so much work to do still (on my QoC) which is cool. :)

Thank you guys for the check-ins.

I stand corrected as there is flooding in NJ which causes major damage in underground areas that right this second is a good time for a bunch of sump pumps and generators being ready, correct?
Love to all,
Bette

lots of heavy rain here in NYC. Some trees came down and plenty of flooding, but no casualties.

I am very close to the evacuated areas (4 to 5 miles) we have some power outages, mostly because of fallen trees, but its all over here, now, but the shouting.

Good luck to my neighbors to the north. :-)

One Google news report offered the opinion that NYC may not be fully operational on Monday. That will have even more economic impact, of course.

This may be a symptom that the inequality of distribution of economic considerations is bad for the USA. Perhaps Wall Street needs to learn to not be so greedy and to spread it around some. One way or another I suppose. I'm glad the storm puttered out but the flooding must be awful. I already don't like humidity. Everything underground has to be ruined too, tunnel systems and such.
Love
Bette

Yes, RBM,
As the storm moves north (dumping heavy rain for 10 or 12 hours) the flooding will continue as the rivers and streams overflow into the low areas. I would expect the impact and after effects to last for a number of days.
But on the lighter side, after the storm passes through, it seems to have washed the dirt from everything. Even the air feels fresher and cleaner. The sky is clear now and the breaze is delightfull. Before the awesome forces of nature we are just like dust in the wind

Haha, I hadn't thought about the city getting an inadvertent bath from the storm.

My first and last-to-date visit to NYC was in '70 but I have no doubt there will be some NYC-grit washing out to sea.

The city is a much different place now than it was in the 70s. You may not recognize the place anymore. I was born and raised here and I sometimes cant recognize it myself, but then, the same can be said of the country, and the world in general I suppose.

Yes, most of country has been built-out in one way or another in 40 years.

My NYC visit was one afternoon, so I saw little, then.

For example of the build-out, I've done Google searches of where I used to live when in junior high, in Newburgh NY. The address is now part of another town and the neighborhood has additional streets with housing.

Actually flying both back from NY and to and from NC what I noticed was how much open land there is in this country.
Love
