People have been reporting strange sounds all around the world this month apparently. There are plenty of videos and reports all over the web.Assuming that it is not a hoax,I tend to think that 'fracking' is responsible.What do you guys and girls think?

References? Map of occurrences correlated with areas where 'fracking' is occurring? You refer to around the world occurrence. Is fracking a world wide distributed process? Its effects would be relatively local, to those areas being geologically disturbed. What is to think about in the absence of data?

I'm at work right now,so I can't search for links to post but some simple web searches will show results.I'm not a geological expert,but I would question whether or not fracking has only local effects and consequences.I believe there have been earthquakes correlated with areas where fracking has been occurring.

That is the point I was making. The correlation of earthquakes with areas where fracking is being performed has been noted. I have seen such articles. This is an over lapping of, a correlation of areas. This is not a matter of fracking 'here' creating earthquakes 'there'. Now the next question is, does this also correlate with the locations of these anomalous sounds? If the anomalous sounds occur 'world wide' and fracking does not, then the correlation fails.

A search for 'strange sounds occurring around the world' comes up as a suggested search on Google with 3 million hits so this is a widely know class of phenomena. Why? ¿Quien sabe?

I do see what you mean about overlapping areas and correlations,but do we really know for sure that fracking effects are only local ?

What I'm wondering is, is it possible that fracking could have some unforeseen global effect,maybe on plate tectonics ? Or maybe a chaotic -butterfly effect? Maybe the recent solar flares are having some effect on the atmosphere too..?Just throwin' stuff out there like everyone else. I'm looking for a 'natural' explanation as oppossed to a UFO conspiracy,HAARP or the mayan/christian 2012 /endtime stuff...

Its certainly worth looking into whether or not the areas with the sounds have been 'fracked' -I guess that would be the next logical step.I know that there is a correlation where I live.They were playing around out in the gulf and caused a small earthquake awhile back, and now people have claimed to have heard this sound in St Pete.

I am anti-fracking since they have not considered unanticipated effects and my son-in-law recently took note that in Pennsylvania I think it is reported there are being studies done because of local earthquakes to see any connection. This also indicates no studies had been done in the first place. The sound is the earth saying "fracking idiots" as far as I'm concerned.

I have no idea what those sounds originate from. There are known phenomena associated with periods prior to earthquakes that animals can respond to as they can sense outside of the frequency range that humans can. That is as a sub sonic vibration. One of the things discovered about elephants for instance is their ability to communicate using sounds which are for us, sub sonic, as too low a frequency for us to really hear. Not to mention echo location by bats and porpoises.

Those sounds in the recordings I listened to have the typical characteristics of turbulence to my ear. Some of them sounded just like industrial oil or gas burners with which I was well familiar in the past. At one time there was a brand of combustion controls [that means an electronic device that can sense whether a flame is lit continuously or not as you don't want to keep pumping in fuel if the flame snuffs out.] that made use of a characteristic of such flames as having a low frequency rumble as sensed as variable brightness of the flame by electronic circuitry that was sensitive to that range of frequencies. That is what gives you the rumbling that was observable in some of those recordings. But others sounded considerably different.

What those people never seemed to do was to really look around as in all directions. If you hear a sound like a freight train when there is clearly no train to be around there as in no tracks, then you think of a tornado as this is the typical description of that sound. If you look in all directions and there is no tornado, then why not look around rather than just standing there waving a camera in the direction that the sound seems to come from. Walk towards the sound. In one of those recordings, there was no sign of movement of adjacent trees as in no wind. Perhaps it is a true glitch of the PMR rendering. What ever it is, no one has the sense to go and look. Either that or they are creating a hoax and just adding a sound track to a recording. This to me is one sign that it might in fact be a hoax, that they are so scared, they say, for no reason that they haven't the sense to rule out the danger of a tornado and then go investigate. Another sign of a possible hoax is not showing children or better, animals, reaction to the sounds as children and especially animals would be very difficult to get to participate in a hoax. I for one would go and look.

There have been a variety of hums and sounds around for years.
Some are hoaxed. Others, apparently, are not.

One of the causes apparently is related to giant underground machines used to chum away at solid rock for hollowing out space for underground bases. This chumming sound can travel a long way through odd paths. (wish I had a link handy to support that, but I don't. It was something that I heard on the radio over a decade ago.)

We have analyzed records of these sounds and found that most of their spectrum lies within the infrasound range, i.e. is not audible to humans. What people hear is only a small fraction of the actual power of these sounds. I listened to the recording on that page and it showed a wider range of sounds than the others I had listened to. Their description in words matched what I said about sounding like for some, a combustion process in terms of low frequency turbulence and modulation by a low frequency signal below 15hz as they describe it. Perhaps we will have the pole reversal that has been talked about as they mention internal core processes of the earth being more active.

Perhaps the Tates instrument company will come back into favor. Those are the people whose compasses always pointed in the opposite direction, leading to the observation that 'he who has a Tates is lost'.

My science is too weak to really make a coherent guess but while reading that article it occurred that Earth is being rung like a bell from the Sun's activity.

I don't have any idea of the plausibility of that idea.

I've been really trying not to fall into the 2012 hype and all,but maybe there really could be something to it huh ? I wonder what Tom's take on all the 2012 stuff is?

A few years ago when I was experimenting with supplements and their effects on Lucid Dreams and OBEs I took some product with calea zacatechici (a legal herb associated with dream prophecy,divine messages and such) and I had quite the disturbing apocalyptic experience on it. I take these things seriously because I've had precognitive dreams here and there.

Lets hope that all this stuff ends up in the unactualized historical data base in 2014.. : O !

What Tom has said about the year 2012 is that it falls between the year 2011 and 2013. Furthermore he said that we must learn to live gracefully with uncertainty. He has also stated that he does not live his life by trying to look ahead via the future projected data base. He just pays good attention to what is going on around him in PMR.
