Ted, I think your analysis of sorcerers from Castaneda is a reasonable one, though sorcery is not an element of the story that I consider to be very important. Where i think the similarities are strongest are with Don Juan, the path of the warrior/power, larger reality, and personal power. I've got ...

Yes, I have those references. That is what I was referring to above. I have already looked up and found references to those points that I make. I am just not satisfied that there might not be more to find if I keep searching, with what I have learned since those days when I first read Castaneda's b...

Ted,

I believe that you might be referring to where the Eagle's emanations enter the assemblage point. Does this sound familiar to you?

Back to the original question:

A mixture of both, in the amounts that make the most sense.

Determinism, as a philosophical view, makes no exceptions. If one must account for where it applies and where it does not determinism is false. If uncertainty exists determinism is false. Apply this in PMR. It does not fit within Tom's model in which there are places where determinism applies and o...

I've never really like the use of 'free will' either because I tend to want to bring along my intellectual baggage, as well. Sometimes, I have to replace it with 'the necessary characteristic of a fundamental consciousness system' to distinguish between what Tom means and what I want it to mean. For...

I was going to chime in on this, but it looks like some good stuff has happened. Well, I'll go ahead and chime in anyway: Free will is a logical necessity in a consciousness system - subsystems can also have free will for the same reason (and under the same conditions) as the larger system. It is a ...

I don't have much experience with painful schooling, nor did I ever have the feeling of being indoctrinated, but if that was the goal of our educational system, it wasn't very effective. I do wonder, given Bette's comments, how an alternative system might be different. Home schooling seems lonely to...

As with any other information, it depends on what you do with it. It CAN help you to gain wisdom, resolve problems, find purpose, happiness, serenity, get over yourself, find yourself, lose bad habits, etc. Some people don't do anything with it and, for them, it has no practical application. If you ...

Mike, The system containing the fundamental process of evolution and AUM (to use the MBT concepts) IS Truth. It defines everything about reality. Reality (the big, whole thing) as a singular entity, beyond which nothing is relevant. I'm not sure that I can get more concrete than that since this is s...

Lena, A closed system "IS" all there is. It is self-defining, self-contained, and self-referential; a tautology. There is nothing else, conceptually, to define it or its interactions with itself. Lumpy, Absolute truth is a requirement, in thus context. Also, it doesn't change - the possibi...

A closed system requires absolute truth in that the system defines itself. At the "top" level, we find the fundamental basis for reality - truth.

But what defines the fractals? More fractals? Is there no underlying system?
