Hi people,

When I open my eyes after them being closed for some time, I see the visual image with noise or like film grain. the image is not smooth for a fraction of a second. It sounds stange I know, but maybe someone has info on this forum? any one else experience it? and any ideas if it has to do with consciousness?

Hi,

I get a similar artifact however its most noticeable when I close my eyes.

What I experience is "Visual Snow" as well as as the "Blue field entoptic phenomenon"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_snow
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_fiel ... phenomenon

Visual snow for me is most prevalent as soon as I close my eyes with significant changes in light intensity (Very bright ambient to dark behind closed eyes). My visual snow eventually reduces but does not disappear. I also notice it especially on dark matt finish surfaces.

Hope this helps...

~Martin

Great links, I experience both and never knew most people don't see them. All I can say is they are a distraction during meditation especially if you are new and, 'hoping,' to see something.

Also, after OOBE when returned to PMR the Visual Snow has increased intensity, even while maintaining complete darkness with eye mask. I have not found it to be significant. I regard the blue field effect as something to not concern attention to respective of getting oob as well.
