A summary of Russell Targ's Notes on Tom's San Jose workshop last February:

Interesting, thank you Peter. I think he needs a comment about lowering entropy RAISING the energy available to do work, besides requiring energy. Actually, does it require energy to lower entropy? I don't think it does, it requires processing feedback which is done in CS where the "energy" we are talking about here, no, wait. Lower entropy makes more energy available do use to lower entropy, okay, it does take energy, but it must gain more that it uses in the long run. Oh dear. Energy is physical, are we talking about a different kind of energy then?

One point I found erronous is that he states that 'the superset cannot be explained in terms of the subset' is assumption #2... It doesnt sound like an assumption but a simple logical, almost mathematical fact. In my understanding of MBT, Assumption #2 was that the principle of evolution is fundamental.

I particularly liked what he said about information not having meaning. All in all it's a pretty good take-away from one workshop, in my opinion.

Hmm...interesting that that's his take on MBT. Some points are OK, others a bit confused, methinks. I wonder if he's actually read the books as well?

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't recommend a beginner to use this list as a grounding summary of MBT. Read the books, the workshop slides, this BB, and see the videos instead.

Maybe not a grounding summary, but for a skeptic who wonders what other scientists think about Tom's theory, Targ's opinion could be very meaningful. Bernard Haisch was at that same seminar, wasn't he?

Yes he was, and I concur. Plus, they both seemed like really nice guys.
