I've only skimmed through the videos a bit, but really nice job guys. Really great to see so many forum faces. Tom is just amazing. Thanks again for your hard work Keith and Donna!

Cool :)

Just got this error though: "Error (509)
This account's public links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled!". Well, it's getting downloaded I take it :P

Keith, how do you encode these videos? The file size seems to indicate it's the raw footage, would it be possible to encode it to so the file size is much smaller, it can be done without almost no loss of quality?

It seems we have crashed dropbox with too much traffic! Working on it, let us know if you have a solution,it took two days to upload. It's not raw footage.

My download of the first section is still running. It says it is 56% done. I debated about stopping it but decided to let it run and see what I got and if it would continue. 8GB struck me as a wee bit longish. Don't know anything about the technicalities of video on the web however.

I posted in the geek subforum at INTJf and got a reply from Monte, who said the service can go out unexpectedly for long durations, 'and other than that it's a great service'.

I consider his opinion credible as he's a mathematics college professor.

Not much help I understand, but maybe something else will pop up.

LOL! Not necessarily a bad thing! I can be patient :)

My download failed incomplete or at least it did not come out to 8GB. What I have watched so far is excellent. Much higher quality than the usual Internet video. Perhaps you do need to investigate dropping the quality level in the interest of download speed. I don't have very fast Internet in the interest of cost. It started out predicting over 8 hours for the download. That is with a rate that amounts to 345 to 325 KB/sec or so.

I think the best solution would be to use a torrent. Torrents are made for sharing large files, and distributing the "work load". See: http://www.utorrent.com/help/guides/make-a-torrent

Some public trackers to use:
udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80
udp://tracker.publicbt.com:80
udp://tracker.ccc.de:80

I still recommend rendering the videos with some other codec, the size could be half or a quarter of what it is now with negligible loss of quality. Will also make the upload time much better.

It is about 3:00 am and my hope was that I could now access the videos -- earlier I too was getting the "crashed, too much traffic" message...my hope was that being the middle of the night, everyone else would be off in another data stream :-) but, no such luck; I am still getting the crashed message.....And, not to be a big whiner Keith cuz I so appreciate all your hard work and effort in getting Tom to us in all the various modalities!

It's not drop box that's down, it's K&D's (or whoever's account) that's been disabled/suspended. Drop Box can be up, we still won't know, til this user's account is reactivated.

Looking forward to seeing them, I started listening yesterday at work but it was distracting.

Thanks, Runi for the ideas. A lot of people don't like torrents because it suggests illegal downloading?

You are right , Lynda. The account was disabled for 3 days due to high traffic. If one of you can download the file, you may be able to initiate a better solution. Meanwhile we are working on it.

Thank you, does that mean it will automatically become available on Sunday and we should not all try to go there at once?

I've got uTorrent installed on my machine but yes, as much as I want to see these videos, I am concerned about doing anything "wrong" or "illegal".

Love,
Lynda
