Free Will is often contrasted with concepts of destiny or karma. But it appears more of an Absolute than anything else in that you (all) have the right to want, to choose, to intend, what you want. This leads to almost immediate and seemingly inevitable conflicts once there is more than one individuated being involved. You have the right to want what you want, but not necessarily the right to act in order to get it at the expense of the rights of others to their own free will choices. I remember a story told of Abraham Lincoln walking with his two sons and asked why they were crying. He said something to the effect that he had three walnuts in his pocket and each one wanted two, the basic problem it seemed with all the worlds inhabitants. In a 'nutshell', the core problem with conflicts based upon free will. Where we get into control of another's free will and consider it as 'evil' versus Absolute Free Will as 'good', consider that each individual, as part of their Absolute Free Will, has the right to act in opposition to the acted upon free will of those trying to control the expression of the free will of others. But even the evil of reality basing their actions upon their own Absolute Free Will have the right to want what they want as opposed to acting upon their desires. But others, motivated by 'good' intent have the right, and it can even be seen as an obligation upon behalf of those lacking power to resist in their own right, to oppose the free expression of the 'bad' intent of others. And free will, even if personally constrained by a desire not to infringe upon others or to be in congruence with the perceived highest good of either others specifically or of the whole consciousness system in general, is still Absolute Free Will and not otherwise.
A pertinent comment by Tom Campbell:
"Free will is free will -- the good guys do what they can but they cannot force someone to be other than they are -- forget the bandits, they are in the noise. It is not like evil gets a free ride-- they study hard and put in long hours too. It's just that in the big picture they, because of their efforts, are going backwards. It is because they necessarily do have ego and fear that they are so limited. It is also why you are so limited -- except you can outgrow it to further your positive evolution. they cannot outgrow it and remain negative beings -- they can only control it. You have headroom to grow, finding love and joy while they are stuck in box minus ten in a very unpleasant place. Compared to the power that can be developed on the positive side with similar effort, they are, for the most part, weak and wimpy. As I said, very limited.
Want, need and desire originate from the ego. Intent originates from the core being. The core being can have ego -- thus your confusion, but the core being is not the same as ego. Ego is a response to fear. The core being is your fundamental consciousness."
