Do not make an initial post to start a new thread on this forum once you advance beyond the beginner level of posts. This forum is an experiment with the purpose of encouraging the participation of those who have so far only hung out in the background and looked over the bulletin board. It is intended to be a place where things are orderly for beginners without the free interaction of the main board. Post only with care for the recognition that we are welcoming a new member and not arguing with a fellow old timer. Your cooperation is appreciated.

◙ enough memory to define change, to differentiate one state from another
◙ enough processing capability to learn from experience
◙ enough awareness of self to have a finite decision space that can be utilized by a free will, and some way to transfer energy and information between itself and its environment (an ability to intentionally interact with its inside and outside environment).

TOM:

...consciousness (as we define it here)‚ i.e., enough memory to define change, to differentiate one state from another; enough processing capability to learn from experience; enough awareness of self to have a finite decision space that can be utilized by a free will, and some way to transfer energy and information between itself and its environment (an ability to intentionally interact with its inside and outside environment). In other words: a conscious entity must be able to modify itself based on its own individual free will intent‚ it has the ability to evolve by intentionally lowering the entropy of its system. Notice that a species of plant comes closer to satisfying these requirements in a very rudimentary way than does an individual plant (by virtue of its evolving species specific genetic material) but that all consciousness is individual.

We create our reality by choice. The dilemma presented in this thread is an example of the fear based struggle between intellectual level objective awareness and Being level subjective awareness. Objective reality is virtual and unique to the rule set of this PMR. Subjective reality is fundamental. Being level subjective awareness is fundamental to a higher quality of consciousness.
I have to disagree with you a bit here. Our reality is created mostly by a random draw within the ruleset and a little by choice. The interpretation of any virtual reality is subjective. Objective things in reality are things like the databases. But again, any interpretation of any of the databases is subjective.

We can agree to disagree.

Both assertions may be true and not
necessarily contradictory.

The current reality, which includes an
array of likely, possible and remote intent outcomes at
each tick of the clock, is indeed subject to
only slight nudging of the available decision
space.

However, with reflection, “education”, and courage,
the IUOC can radically change their decision
path, especially cumulatively over time.

The available array of intents was sticky, but the
accumulation of increasingly mature intent-decision
action-feedback loops constructs your reality
over time.

What do you think?

Sounds about right to me.

I tend to think one of the main purposes(all purposes existing within consciousness) of the rule set is to slow things down a bit(quite a bit actually). It gives us time to decide if we really want what it is that we’re creating. It allows us to see and experience how we’re doing it in detail. Of course, one must pay a lot of attention to notice this, and it requires overcoming a lot of fear in order to accept.

Fundamentally, consciousness is subjective is not to say that there is no structure within consciousness. Consciousness creates the structure it wishes to experience.

What do you prefer? If you could have anything you want. Who are you?
