By chance, I came across this short essay published in Nature in 2005 and thought I'd share it here as it nicely complements how Tom talks about modern physics:

I went immediately to the last paragraph and yup, it's short and sweet:
Quote:
There is another benefit of seeing the
world as quantum mechanical: someone
who has learned to accept that nothing
exists but observations is far ahead of
peers who stumble through physics hop-
ing to find out ‘what things are’. If we can
‘pull a Galileo,’ and get people believing the
truth, they will find physics a breeze.
The Universe is immaterial — mental
and spiritual. Live, and enjoy
Like Tom says, this isn't new.

Yep! Definitely not new!😊;

The tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named is not the eternal Name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth.
The named is the mother of all particular things.

Desireless, one can see the mystery.
Desiring, one sees the manifestations.
These two are really the same but differ in name.
How mysterious !
If you must give it a name, call it nothing.
Nothing begets nothing...
the gateway to mystery.
