Doesn't a combination of the Planck distance and the speed of light give us a very practical limit on the speed of information transmission and processing? If so, doesn't that imply there will be a time when technological advancement cannot continue to accelerate?
Back to the first law of thermo.: In the closed system of PMR, there must be an absolute, time-dependent maximum of the amount of PMR that can be organized as information within it. And it will only get smaller after that due to the 2nd law of thermo.
These imply that not only will technological advancement within PMR cease to accelerate but eventually must cease alltogether as PMR's information capacity is maximized and degrades.
Wow, and that's completely independent of whether the universe/PMR is ultimately expanding or not!

Answer: First, a little perspective on advancing the technology within PMR: After you read Book 2, I think you will see that the point, value, and design goals for PMR have little to do with technological advancement. In the bigger picture, technological advancement is not a terribly important issue. Secondly, I think the discussion of free will, determinism, and viable systems in Book 2 will answer this set of questions more thoroughly than I can manage here. After you have completed book 2, come on back with any remaining questions. Finally, a response to your question: there surely will be some point where the acceleration of technical advancement must decrease — nothing real can accelerate forever. Perhaps the rate of discovery might one day degenerate to some (probably incredibly large relative to now) constant rate of improvement (zero acceleration), but that is like lamenting that eventually automobiles will be limited by light speed on interstates. Yes, no doubt the limitation exists, but jeez, gimme a break, the practical significance of such a limitation is way beyond even the wildest imagination’s ability to feel disappointed.

Answer: The Laws of Thermo only apply to an apparently closed, apparently physical, PMR. They are part of the rule-set that defines PMR physics from the PMR point of view. Sure enough, given that the universe is a closed system, eventually there will be only uniform heat, simple atoms, and elementary particles left to enjoy the view. However, Once one sees PMR as a digital virtual reality, the limitations of closed systems are irrelevant. Planks length and the speed of light do not place a fixed limit on a digital reality that can be as open or closed as is necessary in order for it to perform its designed function. The simulation can always be modified if necessary. In the digital world, it is possible to implement anything expressible as information content. If you had a virtual reality you were particularly fond of that was running out of steam, you might just program some more steam into it. Or if you were done with it, or had a better one, you might just let dribble away until you decided to delete it. Because a system is based on a given rule-set, doesn't imply that it must be closed or have a limited functionality or content. There are more options available than those expressed by the laws of PMR thermodynamics.

Answer: Since PMR is not a fixed, closed system with an upper limit on content, technological advancement can go on as long as it is profitable to the goals and requirements of its existence. AUO or a herd of AUMosaurus may or may not have an upper limit on the number of ones and zeros they can ultimately contain, but that is a different issue — as well as one that is beyond logical discussion. Chapter 32 in Book 1 explains the limitation of our vision and logic.

Answer: Nothing. The laws of PMR Thermo hold no implication for AUO. The rule-sets used to define a virtual sub-reality in no way limit the super-reality that spawned it.
