Hi everyone.

Recently I have been getting a hang of the meditation process, and usually about 10 minutes in to a session I will really begin to relax and let go. When I start to really let go my body starts feeling light and I feel a strong pressure in my head like I am going to float up. At this point I get excited and lose focus on my mantra and chatter begins to return. The rest of the session will be spent in this state (not sure if this would be considered a totally altered state) of lightness and floating with me unable to let go further due to my excitement.

Has anyone else run in to this "excitement" sticking point in their meditation? If so, what tips or approach did you take to overcome it.

I'm also aware that this will eventually work itself out if I keep at it, but I was hoping someone on the forum could give some information that would expedite my progress.

Thanks, Mark

I think it is common to hit a point in your meditation where something seems to impede your progress. For a lot of people it is a sound, a touch, or a sensation. If you do a search on the forum you will find all kinds of posts where people get an itch, hear a weird noise, or experience some physical sensation.

You just have to keep going and work through it. It sounds like you are on your way. Just keep going.

Hey Mark, this quote is telling. What is "meditation progress?" If you can answer that question, then you have an expectation on how your experience should be, and that's holding you back. Maybe you're already progressing quickly, maybe you're not. How can you really know? It's best you don't judge your meditations, or feel the need to progress while meditating and just do as you have been doing and practice without expectations, beliefs, or judgements. Treat each meditation as a unique experience and try not to compare it yesterday's meditations, it just is what it is.

Hey mjhunter, try and have an intent to let go of the excitement and just relax. Things will happen.
